The Sigma chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho first appeared at WSU during the early 1920s. Although interested potential members should have a background or interest in the advancement of agriculture, majors of study range from history to marketing.
Because there is no pledging at AGR, members are initiated within the first 72 hours of their original bid. Instead of a pledge program, fall initiates are considered new members and are offered the same respect and privileges as upper classmen. Having new members as opposed to a pledge program leads to trust and unity, which introduces a collective dedication to all aspects of the collegiate experience. Members of AGR have been active in Interfraternity Council, Coug Guys and Gals, CAHNRS Ambassadors, and a number of honor societies at WSU. Furthermore, AGR members keep busy with their fall cruise, an annual formal in Canada, nearly every intramural sport that the University offers, and a diversity of other events.
The Purpose of Alpha Gamma Rho
To make better men, and through them a broader and better
agriculture by surrounding our members with influences tending to
encourage individual endeavor, resourcefulness, and aggressive
effort along lines making for the development of better mental,
social, moral, and physical qualities; to promote a wider acquaintance
and a broader outlook on the part of agricultural men through
fellowship in a national organization that stands for the best social,
mental, and moral development.
Alpha Gamma Rho offers a character building experience that gives each of us lifelong benefits; we pride ourselves in achieving excellence in all that we do. If you feel that AGR's ambitious attitude and dedication to excellence suits you, please stop by and take a closer look. |
